【Game Highlights】

Homescapes is a game in which you take on the role of Austin, the Butler. He decides to visit his boyhood house because he has pleasant recollections of it. As you return home, you'll discover that Austin's parents want to sell the house because it's in such disrepair.Austin does not want to sell the property, therefore he will work hard to have improvements completed. You'll need to collect points in the game to make these improvements, which you may achieve by solving puzzles. The puzzle concept in Homescapes requires you to match three neighboring pieces. You may even line up more than three pieces and receive additional bonuses. Your aim is to get rid of everything. The quantity you must accomplish is specified, and you will have a limited number of turns. If you don't finish this in time, stamina will be removed from you, limiting the number of tries you have. When you finish a puzzle, you will receive money as well as stars. Stars are necessary to finish your to-do list, and money is required for your purchases.

【How to Play】

Homescapes is a match-3 game in which, in addition to playing on endless boards trying to clear blocks and achieve objectives, you also get to restore a massive estate. Every step you complete earns you stars, which you can use to clean up the decaying estate as well as purchase and place new furniture and other stuff to continue with the reconstruction. At first, you'll see that the house is utterly run-down and requires a large amount of elbow grease to get it back in working order. To continue with the renovations, you will need to acquire stars, which are a sort of cash in the game that you can use to clean the house, correct defects, buy new furnishings, and do basic improvements. However, the only way to obtain these stars is to complete difficult match-3 puzzles as well as other minigames, which is where the player comes in. The great majority of Homescape puzzles are match-3 boards with particular objectives to solve. Though the objectives differ depending on the level, they always revolve around matching up blocks of the same hue to clear the boards. In this manner, certain levels may demand you to remove a certain amount of blocks of a given sort, but others may ask you to cover the entire board with carpeting, which is accomplished by making combinations on vacant slots, among other objectives. Regardless of the aim, the core gameplay is as easy as lining up blocks of the same color till you complete the level. However, most levels have a turn restriction, and if you don't achieve the anticipated goal before the turn limit, you'll lose and have to restart from the beginning. Though you might theoretically complete the early-game stages by just connecting blocks in series of threes, you'll rapidly hit a tough wall that will push you to your limits until you figure out how to create bigger combinations. Aside from removing additional blocks from the board, combining pieces in groups of four or more creates power-ups that, when triggered, can achieve diverse effects and aid to clear even more blocks across a larger area.

【Pros and Cons】

While adding a house design component doesn't make it any more enjoyable, this match-3 puzzle game does feature some unique elements that set it apart. In Homescapes, you must match three or more items of the same type and color to clear the board and gain points. You then spend these stars on new furniture for your childhood home or on duties like mopping the floor. While the interior decorating sections are short and essentially only serve to inspire you to keep trying, the puzzle sections bring some fascinating new elements to this familiar puzzle genre.

The most frustrating new feature is that after you accomplish a task, your on-screen friend will clap his hands at you even if you don't move on to the next portion. That aspect doesn't make any sense, which is strange given how noisy this may be. As a result, while Homescapes may be the next match-3 puzzle game to occupy your time, you'll want to play it silently.
